FOLD2 project has had great visibility during 2025 in showcasing sustainable folded design and material innovation both in Finland and on international stages. Our mission to explore advanced folding techniques with wood-based materials for packaging and design applications has resonated strongly across industries and audiences worldwide. Here are some of the highlights of FOLD2 from 2025:
FOLD2 at Finlandia Hall exhibition: project outcomes are showcased in a permanent exhibition at the renewed Finlandia hall.
The Finlandia Exhibition opened for public in June and offers a curated view through the lives and work of Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto, and combines architecture, design, and nature with modern sustainability themes, including innovations from the New wood (Uusi puu) initiative.
FOLD2 project got an opportunity to be a part of “Land of Forests” section of the exhibition, which showcases wood-based design and packaging solutions as part of a sustainable future. Folded designs and materials produced with the FOLD2 technology are utilized both in the exhibition stand and in the packaging and interior concepts presented at the exhibit.

FOLD2 in New Wood competition
New Wood arranged a competition seeking products and solutions that make innovative use of wood. FOLD2 participated with a folded packaging concept containing multiple pieces, showcasing different options for using structures created with the FOLD technology. The designed packaging concept gained a lot of visibility through New Wood events and exhibitions during and after the competition.

FOLD2 presented around the world at New wood exhibitions and events
The Fold Project attracted attention for its creative use of folded structures in various events during the year. Our folded concepts were presented on a New wood exhibition tour in Thailand from January to November, at the European Commission’s headquarters in Berlaymont, Brussels in May, Osaka World expo in Japan in September, and again in Brussels during new bioeconomy strategy launch in November.
